The Carl Eickhorn company was founded in Solingen in 1865 and became one of the largest manufacturers of edged weapons in Germany. The trademark featuring a squirrel (Eichhörnchen) was a guarantee of the highest quality products. During the Third Reich period, the enterprise produced a wide range of regulation edged weapons: daggers of all military branches, SA, SS, NPEA, NSFK, TeNo daggers, as well as dress daggers, sabers, and swords. Carl Eickhorn products are distinguished by excellent steel quality, meticulous finishing, and are highly valued by modern collectors.

The renowned “Field Marshal Series” produced by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen holds a special place among German Army sabers of the Third Reich era. The series comprised nine distinct models, each named after a prominent German military commander or historical figure: Wrangel, Scharnhorst, Blücher, von Stein, Roon, Derfflinger, Zieten, Prinz Eugen, and Lützow. The name “Field Marshal Series” is a traditional term used by collectors. Each model had its own catalog number and featured distinctive designs for the hilt, pommel, and decorative elements. Many of these designs are associated with the renowned artist and edged-weapons designer **Paul Casberg**. Today, the “Field Marshal Series” is particularly appealing as a complete collecting theme.
