Description

WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie., Solingen) was one of the largest and most significant manufacturers of German naval dirks. The company produced naval edged weapons from the late 19th century and continued their manufacture for more than four decades — until the cessation of Kriegsmarine dirk production during World War II. Thus, WKC's products span several historical periods: the Imperial Navy before World War I, the war years themselves, the interwar Reichsmarine, and the Kriegsmarine of the Third Reich period. Thanks to such prolonged production, WKC dirks clearly demonstrate the evolution of the German naval dirk — from late 19th century models to the final variants of the early 1940s.
